Identification of Vibrio cholerae type III secretion system effector proteins.
AM-19226 is a pathogenic O39 serogroup Vibrio cholerae strain that lacks the typical virulence factors for colonization (toxin-coregulated pilus [TCP]) and toxin production (cholera toxin [CT]) and instead encodes a type III secretion system (T3SS). The mechanism of pathogenesis is unknown, and few effector proteins have been identified. We therefore undertook a survey of the open reading frame...
متن کاملFatty acid composition of lipopolysaccharides of Vibrio cholerae 35A3 (Inaba), NIB 90 (Ogawa), and 4715 (Nag).
Considerable amounts of odd-numbered fatty acids, such as non-hydroxy C15 and C17 and 3-hydroxy C11 and C13 acids, were found in lipopolysaccharides from Vibrio cholerae 35A3 (Inaba).
متن کاملGrowth Inhibitory Effect of Lactocare on Vibrio cholerae
Background and Objective: Acute microbial diarrheal diseases are the major public health problems in the developing countries. People affected by diarrheal diseases have the lowest financial resources and poorest hygienic facilities. Children under five, primarily in Asian and African countries, are mostly the subjects affected by microbial diseases transmitted through water.<b...
متن کاملVibrio cholerae Pathogenic Clones
We resolved the relationships between 2 pandemic clones of Vibrio cholerae. Using 26 housekeeping genes, we showed that the US Gulf clone, the Australian clone, and 3 El Tor strains isolated before the seventh pandemic were related to the seventh pandemic clone. The sixth pandemic clone was well separated from them.
متن کاملChemotaxis in Vibrio cholerae.
The ability of motile bacteria to swim toward or away from specific environmental stimuli, such as nutrients, oxygen, or light provides cells with a survival advantage, especially under nutrient-limiting conditions. This behavior, called chemotaxis, is mediated by the bacteria changing direction by briefly reversing the direction of rotation of the flagellar motors. A sophisticated signal trans...
